PAW23: Session 1

Starting a Pension for Business Owners & Company Directors

Maximising benefits and planning for regulatory change

Directors and owners of small companies and business owners have unique opportunities to use pensions as a way to extract value from a company in a highly efficient manner. Whether you are starting from scratch, or want to improve on your existing pension arrangement, this webinar will help you get a grip on what pensions can do for your wealth through your company.

Separately there has been a large number of regulatory changes within the pensions sector which are having an impact on pensions for the self-employed. These include the introduction of advantages to using a PRSA over the single member executive pensions, to the pending introduction of auto-enrolment.  Intended for owners and the self-employed,  this session will focus on how some of the recent regulatory changes impact you and what practical steps can be taken by business owners to take advantage of them.

Keeping Your Pension On Track

Mid-career and building your pension wealth?  Here’s how to get the most out of it

By mid-career, many people have started pensions, some with different company schemes. Others may be only considering taking out a pension and looking at how to take the first step. Regardless of the scenario that applies to you, now is the ideal time to take stock and think about your retirement goals.

This year, it’s been impossible to ignore the markets. The last eight months have had their fair share of drama. There have been bank failures and price falls – but also asset price recoveries in some sectors, an improving inflation trend, and continued economic resilience in most of the developed world.

This session looks at how you should invest your pension in 2023 and beyond. Which regions of the world are hot, and which are best avoided? Should you reallocate in or out of equities?  What’s the outlook for commodities and bonds?

Whether it’s market ups and downs, new investment opportunities or new attitudes to existing investments, having a grip on how your pension is invested can make a big difference to your future.

Coaching Session with Brian Mooney

Rediscovering yourself in your Second Life

As human beings we are creatures of habit as anyone who attempts to fulfil a new year’s resolution can attest to. So, no matter what age you are when you walk away from the job which has filled that work slot during your adult life you are likely to experience a sense of loss or dislocation.

Work for most people involves far more than the actual role they perform in their professional life. For many of us it gives us our sense of self, our identity in a profound way, as well as providing us with the means to live our life in the way we want to. Work can also be central to our social lives, where we meet with many of our closest friends daily. It may be the place where we feel most fulfilled, enhancing our sense of self-esteem and personal empowerment.

How then should we prepare for the transition to our second life? Brian Mooney will chat through how we navigate the next steps. With the right planning, a little imagination, and a degree of bravery, rediscovering yourself in your Second Life can be very rewarding.

Coupled with this we will give you access to the resources that provide the tips and tools that you can use to help you plan for a fulfilling and financially sound retirement.

Company Pensions for SME’s

What does a good SME company pension look like in 2023?

Getting your pension offering right for management and staff can make a real difference,

Running a small or medium-sized business, or forming a new business in Ireland, means wearing a lot of hats.

The focus needs to be on business growth, product development, and smooth operations.  When it comes to HR, keeping it simple and delivering benefits your team actually values is critical.

At the same time, a strong pension and benefits offering is a great way to recruit, reward and retain staff.  Pensions can also enable owner-managers to extract value in a highly efficient manner.  And if you set up your pension offering right, the administrative burden on the business can be minimized.

Happily, it has never been easier for SMEs and new businesses to put a compelling workplace benefits plan in place, whether you are starting from scratch, or want to improve on your existing offering.  The purpose this session is to explain how.

So, what is a pension?

Simply put, a pension is a savings fund with your name on it. Your pension is the savings fund used to pay for your retirement. Ideally, you shouldn’t access your fund until at least the age of 60.

Your money is invested on your behalf by a pension provider. Typically, a pension provider will invest your pension into company shares, bonds and property through an investment fund. Our goal is to help you generate long-term growth.
